《书目》(Booklist)书评
From the people who brought you Bread in Half the Time (1991) comes this sequel, which zeroes in on convenient and quick sweet treats. The authors' secret? As before, they combine the food processor with microwave to offer an array of baking tips. It is all too easy to become absorbed in this collection, not only because of the more than 200 recipes, but also thanks to well-written sidebars on topics that range from selecting a pineapple to packing macaroons to go. Of course, all the desserts are mouth-watering, and the authors include such traditional favorites as brownies, apple pie, strawberry shortcake, and chocolate mousse. Newer taste sensations are featured as well, including frozen ginger custard, raspberry-hazelnut chocolate bars, pear-coconut pie, and china peach. The authors actively advocate the use of store-bought fixings (frozen pie crusts and pastries) and thoughtfully include a chapter on low-fat, low-cholesterol desserts. ~--Barbara Jacobs
