摘要
Brings together research on the following topics: obstacles facing women in elected office, the gender gap in voting, the development of the women's movement, and women's roles as journalists, broadcasters, and in popular culture. The aim is to provide a thorough, systematic understanding of the relationship between women, media, and American politics. Chapters draw on surveys of voters and campaign managers, personal interviews with journalists and broadcasters, focus groups and experiments to see how people react to various media messages, and historical archives. The 13 papers originated from two conferences held in summer 1995 and spring 1996 on press, politics and public policy. Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.
