Holly Martins, a writer of trashy novels travels to Vienna to meet his friend, Harry Lime, who has promised him a job. Martins arrives in Vienna only to find that his friend has been killed in a strange auto accident, and that there may have been darker secrets in his friend's life than Martins ever imagined.
