摘要
This new edition successfully combines elements of radiographic technique with interpretation information for readers. Based on the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology guidelines published by the American Association of Dental Schools, this unique book features numerous high-quality photographs, radiographs, and line drawings. New information on digital radiography, radiation health, periodontal disease, and image assessment is included, as well as chapter review questions, case-based questions, and workshop and laboratory exercises. To help readers prepare for certification, sample multiple-choice and case-based questions for the National and State Board Certification Examinations are also included.

This book is a review of dental imaging and its techniques. The purpose is to help students learn and perfect techniques in dental imaging. The book has worthy objectives to educate students and provide information on dental imaging. I believe that the book does meet the objectives. It is very well organized and has concise pictures to aid the student. The book is targeted towards students, according to the authors, who are both on staff at the University of Texas Health Center. Illustrations are, for the most part, a great asset to the book. They help to explain many radiographic concepts. References are current and pertinent. The table of contents is adequate. The book is well organized. The book would be a great asset in the dental student's first radiology course. The book is concise and very well organized and makes it easy for the student to understand many of the principles of radiology. The illustrations are invaluable. The book would also make a good reference sour ce for the dental professional. However, the book's authors could have devoted more space to the radiographic concepts of the MRI and CT scan. Overall, the book is a great review for the dental student and a good way to prepare for National Board exams. Aladean Attar, DMD(University of Chicago Medical Center).
