《书目》(Booklist)书评
A collection of meditations on the Koran by an American teacher of mystical Islam. Hixon first offers a brief discussion of key features of Islam (especially Sufism), then provides an invitation to the reader to allow ``the revealed words of this Koran, when experienced reverently and profoundly, . . . [to] communicat[e] as vividly as when they were first uttered.'' Such a compendium cannot cover the entire Koran; Hixon focuses on selected paraphrased passages concerning such topics as the beginning of time, the end of time, the prophet Muhammad, prayer, mystical teachings, the harmony of religions, spiritual practices, and saints and sinners. Most religion collections will benefit from this sensitive introduction to a little- understood topic. No index. SEM.
