PreS-Gr 1-These three episodes from the popular Nickelodeon TV series will thrill Seuss lovers. Silly, colorful, and full of imagination, Henson's puppetry company does an excellent job of bringing Seuss to life, unlike the recent feature-length films starring Jim Carrey and Mike Myers. In the first episode, the Cat in the Hat attempts to cure Terrence McBird's hiccups, a theme with which children will be sure to identify. In "Horton Has a Hit," alliteration plays a big part as Yertle the Turtle hears Horton's song and sees a market for it. The last episode features the Cat in the Hat's storytelling-machine as it relays the stories of how the Grinch adopted Max the Dog, and a story about an alien from Malamaroo. The audio is fun and, as the title promises, musical, and mixes well with the puppetry and computer animation used for the visuals. This title is essential for any collection where Seuss is popular, and will fit nicely into leisure-viewing collections.- Kirsten Martindale, formerly Menomonie Public Library, WI (c) Copyright 2010.
