Gr all levels-Produced and performed by Elida Guardia Bonet, Rabbit Tales is a collection of rabbit-as-trickster tales. The three stories are told in Latin America and contain influences from Africa, Native American Indian and Spain. Bonet provides an introduction to the trickster, Tio Conejo, or Rabbit, before beginning the tales. One side has the stories in English with phrases in Spanish, while on the second side Bonet tells the stories in Spanish. "Rabbit Wants to Be BIG/Tio Conejo quiere ser grande" is based on a Cuban folktale with African influences. "Rabbit and Tiger/Tio Conejo y tigre" can be found in Puerto Rican and Mexican folklore and contains Spanish colonial influences. "Rabbit's Lesson/Tio Conejo aprende su leccion" is a story from Panama with Native American influences. Bonet's enthusiasm for the subject matter and the bilingual nature of the format and material engages listeners. The content is entertaining, and the format lends itself to individual and group listening.-Denise A. Garofalo, Mid-Hudson Library System, Poughkeepsie, NY (c) Copyright 2010.
