PreS-K-Barney, the delightful purple dinosaur, is back with Baby Bop and some of their special human friends in this outing that focuses on the concepts of shapes, colors, and letters. When Barney comes across his three friends in the park imagining the images they see in the passing clouds. When Barney shows them a painting of a yellow circle, they imagine what that circle might be (a ball, the sun, etc.). Squares, triangles, and circles are introduced when they decide to put on an art show. The children also learn about various colors and a song about what happens when colored are mixed together. ABCs are highlighted when Baby Bop sends out an invitation to her tea party but she is the only one who can read it because the writing is squiggles instead of letters. The children sing the "ABC Song" and teach Baby Bop how to spell her name. The T Game encourages children to think of words that begin with the letter "t" that rhyme with the word that Barney says. Upbeat, sing-along songs that relate to the concepts are interspersed throughout the action. Shots of groups of multicultural f children spelling their names, mixing paint, and playing in a variety of locations are sprinkled throughout the production. Another solid Barney production for all collections for young children.-Veronica Schwartz, Des Plaines Public Library, IL (c) Copyright 2010.
