《儿童读物杂志》(Horn Book)书评
Five episodes feature Stewart Stork, who yearns to be more like his favorite comic-book hero, Superstork, who is tall, fast, and strong. Caring friends bolster Stewart's self-esteem when they accept him 'just the way' he is. The message is somewhat didactic; the soft illustrations, rendered in pen-and-ink and watercolor, are mildly amusing. From HORN BOOK 1993, (c) Copyright 2010. Gr. 1-2. Stewart Stork wants to be taller, faster, and stronger, and he gets into trouble every time he tries to "redo" himself. Walking on stilts, roller blading, and weight lifting don't seem to work, and Stewart becomes very depressed until his loyal friends come to the rescue by telling him, "We like you just the way you are." This is a cut above most easy-to-read books, with a humorous text cheerfully illustrated. Halsey's slightly offbeat sense of perspective gives her watercolors a freshness that adds to Madsen's story.
