《书目》(Booklist)书评
This guide to the world's largest genealogical library--Salt Lake City's Family History Library (which is supported by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints)--is also a step-by-step primer for the beginning genealogist. The intent here is to help the researcher do the job without wasting time, either getting lost in the library or searching ineffectively for material that is easily accessible. Emphasis is on preparation that can be done in advance in order to make the most of the Family History Library experience. This plain but informative book accomplishes its purpose just by demystifying a variety of genealogical indexes and catalogs. The floor plans, classification schemes, and rules of the library are set forth in detail, including a section titled "Reference Questions: How to Ask Them." Tips on dining, lodging, and parking in Salt Lake City are also covered. All libraries having genealogy inquiries (are there any that don't?) should purchase this useful book. Index. --Betsy Levins
