《书目》(Booklist)书评
Gr. 7-10. In their first three chapters, the authors define personality and explain its development, discuss major theories about personality and behavior (Freud's psychoanalytic theory, Maslow's humanistic approach, and behaviorism), and examine assorted personality traits and their importance. The remaining five chapters focus on personality disorders, with multiple personality disorder, personality assessment, and personality modification each given a full chapter. The authors present a balanced discussion of the major theories, concluding that since each deals with different aspects of personality, it may not be reasonable to suggest that one theory is more correct than another. Students in introductory psychology classes or those researching personality disorders will find the text readable and interesting. They will also find it relevant, as most of the examples concern adolescents and situations they may experience. Source notes citing major works in the field are included, as is a bibliography. ~--Chris Sherman
