《学校图书馆杂志》(School Library Journal)书评
In this ground-breaking attempt at making connections, Katz deals with a natural marriage of her subjects and provides a jumping-off point for teachers to take an interdisciplinary approach. She illustrates, in an introductory manner, the fact that both science and art require imaginative problem solving, observation, hypothesis, and conclusions. However, poor sequencing and uneven distribution of information weakens the organization and usefulness of this text; the ideas are not fleshed out in enough depth for children to complete them on their own. Beautiful well-captioned, full-color illustrations accompany each section. Teachers who have the patience to track down the information will find interesting, enjoyable art projects for their students; without adult explanation, children are unlikely to make the scientific connections. --Fran Powell, George G. Color photographs and drawings. The book shows that many shapes and patterns in art are taken from natural phenomena. The many suggestions for art projects have a scientific basis; the difficulty of the projects varies greatly; and the directions are not explicit. (c) Copyright 2010.
