摘要
Introduces babies to the foundations of music by associating specific classical musical sounds with bold, brightly colored animals. This unique experience excercises learning skills as the baby focuses on each animal's theme and discriminates each instrument's tone, pitch and rhythm.

PreS-This production has been designed to introduce babies and young toddlers, ages six months to four years, to musical instruments. The instructions at the beginning of the video encourage parents to make the viewing experience an interactive one between themselves and their child, to verbally identify the images in the video, and to view the video in short segments of 5-10 minutes. In each of the ten segments, an animated sequence featuring a particular animal is paired with a classical piece of music featuring a particular instrument. All images are created using very simple shapesAmostly circles, ovals, triangles, squares, and rectangles. The animation is slow and deliberate. Each of the classical pieces is played beautifully by a professional musician. In segment one, a violin playing Mozart's "Symphony No. 39 in E flat Major, 4th Movement" accompanies colorful birds flying by clouds and trees. A blue elephant splashing in the water is backed up by Sanz's guitar piece "Canarlos." Crusell's "Grand Concerto in F Minor for Clarinet and Orchestra" accompanies a bright green frog hopping up and down hills. A lovely French horn solo from Tchaikovsky's "Symphony No. 5, Horn Solo, 2nd Movement" is the background for butterflies flitting around and changing colors. Some of the other segments include a camel (Clarke's "Trumpet Voluntary"), a monkey (Mozart's "Piano Sonata, K. 545 Allegro"), a giraffe (Mozart's "Sonata for Bassoon in B flat Major"), and cats (a flute playing Bach's "Polonaise and Badinerle from Orchestral Suite #2 in B Minor"), among others. This colorful video is sure to be a hit with both parents and their babies.-Beverly Bixler, San Antonio Public Library, TX (c) Copyright 2010.
