``Marti'' Beckman, a freelance writer whose humorous inspirational writings regularly appeared in Mature Years, died in 1993. The materials used here were to be her first book. What a shame that we will be deprived of more of these uplifting, light, and witty Christian meditations. Each little devotional features an amusing story followed by good, sensible advice and a quotation, often from the Bible but sometimes from another source. A pithy application follows.
