Itza Maya is a dying member of the Yucatecan branch of the Mayan language family, currently spoken by less than a hundred older adults in Peten, Guatemala. The texts reproduced here were provided by three native speakers of Itza Maya. The basic unit of presentation is the text line. Word-internal morpheme divisions are indicated in the Itza line, glosses for each morpheme are provided beneath, followed by a translation into English.
