Utterly delightful! Wells presents a fascinating exploration of the mathematics found and used throughout the "real world." His book is clearly written, easy to follow, and should ensnare even the most reluctant mathphobe. Wells succeeds admirably in his goal to involve the reader in the game of mathematics that, he reminds us, is not a spectator sport. Each chapter includes numerous problems of a wide range of difficulty seamlessly interwoven with bits of mathematical history. The "mathematical adventure" in the last chapter provides a wonderful model of the process of exploring mathematical problems and limitless avenues for continued exploration and recreation.
