摘要
摘要
This volume seeks to answer the needs of instructors and students in the shorter paediatric and maternity nursing courses. It should provide students with the right amount of accurate and up-to-date content in an easy-to-understand style. The first part of the book includes content on maternal health nursing, including the newborn, and the second part of the book covers content related to paediatric nursing. Drawings, photographs, and tables help clarify the narrative.

This first edition textbook contains the essential information on both maternity and pediatric nursing care. The authors' purpose was to condense two separate successful textbooks into one text by reducing duplication of material while retaining cutting-edge, accurate, and comprehensive information. This purpose was achieved. The book is intended to be a text for nursing students studying maternity and pediatric nursing. The content is presented clearly with numerous headings which makes it easy to follow. There are numerous illustrations included which enhance the understanding of the content. The highlighted boxes of material (i.e., critical thinking, nursing alert, home care) make important information easily accessible. The references are relatively current. The index simplifies information searches. This book will provides students with one text containing essential, up-to-date information on the nursing care of maternity and pediatric clients. It does provide reference supp ort for the content which faculty will find useful. However, it lacks depth of content if one wishes to use the book as a reference. The presentation is attractive and facilitates easy reading. Important information is highlighted in boxes for easy access.
