Gr all levels-This upbeat collection of classic Motown hits may appeal more to oldie-loving adults than to children. Several of these gems are performed by the original artists, and others have been given a new arrangement. The tunes include "Proud Mary" (Ike & Tina Turner); "Get on the Good Foot" (James Brown); "Rockin' Robin" (Jackson 5); "Soul Man" (Sam & Dave); "Tighten Up" (Archie Bell & the Drells from Houston, TX); "Friendship Train" (Gladys Knight & the Pips); "Walkin' the Dog" (Rufus Thomas); "Respect" (Aretha Franklin); "Chain Gang" (Otis Redding); "It's a Beautiful Morning" (The Rascals); and "Barefootin'"(Robert Parker). The "Name Game" (Linda Tillery & the Cultural Heritage Choir) adds a few more names, such as "Avi" and "Bubba." And Taj Mahal does wonderful hip hop/rap arrangements of "Function at the Junction" and "Everyday People." The aural quality is outstanding. This album will appeal to all ages, but those who grew up loving and singing along with these songs will appreciate it the most.-Beverly Bixler, San Antonio Public Library, TX (c) Copyright 2010.
