This is one of the first four pocket guides aimed primarily at those doing business in foreign countries (the other three volumes treat China, Hong Kong, and Japan; 24 others are scheduled for next spring). Malat, a freelance writer living in Guadalajara, Mexico, provides all the business traveler needs to know. The overview offers facts about Mexico, its regions, and cultural stereotypes and discusses doing business across cultures. The section on the business environment gives tips on the work environment in Mexico, business meetings, negotiating, and other related matters, while the section on customs and etiquette explains cultural differences in social and business situations. The last section offers some basic Spanish phrases, telephone numbers, and addresses. All in all, this is a short, handy guide that should be helpful to any businessperson working in Mexico.George M.
