A novel, detailed analysis of the current status of the developing field of study described as the neuropsychology of talent. The contributors suggest a broad definition for the term "talent" and provide a very comprehensive assessment of the math, musical, memory, and artistic skills of exceptionally talented individuals. Additionally, wherever the data exist, they provide descriptions or suggestions of the underlying neural mechanisms involved with the particular talent. In the concluding chapter a theoretical model of exceptional cognitive talents--which posits that these talents derive from a source that is separate from that of normal intelligence--is presented. This model and the preceding chapters will make this an important addition to the field. Chapters in this large volume are well written and include extensive bibliographies.
