Fiction: NF Age: 4-6 Published fall 1994. Based on Parkman's book, [cf2]The Oregon Trail[cf1], the adaptation describes the explorer's life among the Sioux Indians during the mid-nineteenth century. Parkman details social customs, family life, and hunting practices -- concise boxed inserts, paintings, artifacts, color photographs, and a map supplement the first-person narrative.
