《学校图书馆杂志》(School Library Journal)书评
Gr 4-6A lively biography of the legendary mountain man and frontier scout. Sanford's direct writing style is appropriate to the subject. In presenting the story of a true hero, the author gives a sense of what life was like during his lifetime. He includes fascinating details of Carson's techniques for survival, such as building a campfire and then sleeping a couple of miles away from it. A number of black-and-white reproductions and photographs greatly illuminate the text.Anne Parker, Milton Public Library, MA (c) Copyright 2010. The brief biographies, written in short, easy-to-read sentences, outline the lives of six adventurous individuals who shaped the Wild West during the second half of the nineteenth century. Black-and-white photographs and drawings add intereest; the lurid cover illustrations, however, make the volumes visually unappealing. Bib., glos., ind. (c) Copyright 2010.
