《学校图书馆杂志》(School Library Journal)书评
Gr 4-6-Well-written biographies of men noted for their exploration of the American West. Both individuals lived in the early 19th century and were known for their daring exploits and bravery during battles. The explorers' failures as well as their successes are dealt with evenhandedly. The books contain many interesting drawings and photos in color and in black and white of people and scenes. Although they are shorter than titles in the "World's Great Explorers" series (Children's), these volumes will be useful for reports.-Anne Knickerbocker, formerly at Cedar Brook Elementary School, Houston, TX (c) Copyright 2010. The books in this series provide brief biographies of six men who played critical roles in the settling of the West. Dry prose and poor follow-through on significant events and people in the subjects' lives make these volumes less than helpful. Maps and black-and-white and color reproductions illustrate the text. A timeline is included at the end of each book. Bib., glos., ind.
