《书目》(Booklist)书评
This well-researched guide describes the uniforms, clothing, weapons, and accoutrements of the Old West from 1840 to 1900. Author/illustrator Reedstrom's unique style of art is showcased in some 32 full-page colorplates that supplement more than 100 photos and line drawings. Offering far more than a picture book, however, Reedstrom provides a thorough description of the entire movement of America's frontier, including accounts of the life and activities of Indians, soldiers, hide hunters, miners, lawmen, outlaws, gamblers, settlers, and the ubiquitous cowboys. Recommended for collections dealing with historic costumes as well as for those comprising western Americana. References, bibliography; index.
