Stressing the need for healthful eating habits, Epstein traces the history of eating disorders. Symptoms of anorexia nervosa and bulimia are examined, followed by discussion of victims of the disorders. Information about getting help for the victim is outlined, with psychotherapy and Overeaters Anonymous suggested as possible sources of help. A straightforward writing style makes information accessible and easy to read. Similar in coverage to Claypool's Food Trips and Traps (Watts, 1983), this volume is not as detailed as several other volumes that focus on either bulimia or anorexia nervosa in detail. Some of the black-and-white illustrations, tables, and photographs add information, while others merely break up the text. The book should be useful for health classes needing additional sources as well as for students needing basic information about eating disorders. --Lois McCulley, Wichita Falls High Sch . , TX (c) Copyright 2010.
