PreS-K-Barney and his friends are back in their most recent direct-to-video adventure, spending a day at the beach. Barney, Baby Boo, and BJ join a multicultural group of children for a day of summer fun that includes sail-boating, kite flying, shell hunting, castle building, and hula dancing. The scenery is bright, and the children are dressed in a variety of neon hues. The set is tropical and much of the background is computer generated. The video features 14 songs and dance numbers including classics such as "Rain, Rain, Go Away" and "Mr. Sun," as well as a version of "A Hunting We Will Go." The catchy, yet simple tunes are certain to have youngsters singing and dancing along. While fun is the focus of the day, safety is also emphasized. For example, before everyone heads to the beach, they all slather on sunscreen, and in "A Silly Hat" everyone tries on a variety of hats. In "I'd Love to Sail," Barney and company go sailing on a computer generated sea. And the highlight of the day is the hula lesson provided by two special guests from Hawaii. The collection concludes with Barney's signature song, "I Love You." Barney's latest adventure will be enjoyed by all his fans and is sure to be a popular choice at public libraries.-Maren Ostergard, Bellevue Regional Library, King County Library System, WA (c) Copyright 2010.
