《学校图书馆杂志》(School Library Journal)书评
Twelve Christmas songs from Central and South American tradition, arranged chronologically from Christmas Eve to Epiphany, with Spanish and English texts. Melody lines and guitar chords are appended. The illustrations depict Latin Americans preparing food, making music, carving, or celebrating the holidays. Brief paragraphs explain what is going on, where the depicted event takes place, other countries with slightly different but similar traditions, and the significance of these events. Delacre uses vivid pastels, paint, and colored pencil to show typical landscapes, homes, plazas, and the people of Latin America. While the book will certainly help Hispanics recall their rich holiday heritage, it reads less successfully in English as the translations are not in rhyme. (c) Copyright 2010. Although Latin America is supposed to be represented in this book, nine of the thirteen bilingual holiday songs are from Puerto Rico. Music is included. Joyous but ordinary illustrations. Kirkus评论
A bilingual book with 12 traditional songs (nine from Puerto Rico) that exemplify traditions of the season, with pleasant but undistinguished illustrations showing modern observances in comfortable Caribbean homes. Music and notes on customs included. Useful and attractive. Copyright ©Kirkus Reviews, used with permission.

Ages 5-9. From the gathering of flowers for decoration to the final festivities of Epiphany, this cheerful collection celebrates the Christmas traditions of Latin America through the seasonal songs of its countries. Although most of the songs originated in Puerto Rico, selections from Santo Domingo, Mexico, and Venezuela are also included. Full-color artwork shows people in modern dress celebrating in their own ways: an artisan carving a Nativity figure; people walking to midnight mass; and children helping to prepare special foods, forming a colorful procession, or whacking a pinata. The illustrations are varied in both composition and mood, their bright pastels and soft shading providing unity. The main part of the book features the Spanish text of each song with illustrations and a translation. Happily, the translations are not forced into English rhyme. The music, including all verses of the songs in both languages, appears at the end of the book, along with the artist's comments on Latin American Christmas traditions. A festive addition to holiday music collections. ~--Carolyn Phelan
