Gr 9-Up-In this exquisite film, poets, teachers, scientists, authors and artists of all ages remind us that we are one with water and can not be separated from it. A soothing, non-obtrusive musical sound track and voice of quintessential narrator, Peter Coyote, combine with stunning visuals of water: streams, rivers, lakes, oceans, snow, rain. Water, the most abundant element on earth, creates and sustains all life. Each of the interviewees--Linda Hogan, Robert Hass, Susan Zwinger, Colin Fletcher, Jennifer Greene and David Whyte--relates in his or her own unique manner the sacredness of water. By pointing out the beauty of water, its sacred nature and the precious gift of life it creates, this is a very positive, and a quite different approach to what might be a typical anti-pollution message. The intense beauty, impact, and force of nature need no words; thus a four-minute montage of compelling images of water set to the music of David Foster concludes the video. All library collections will find this a must-have. Classes across the curriculum--science, English, the arts, music, etc.-- will utilize this extraordinary video.-Patricia Ann Owens, Wabash Valley College, Mt. Carmel, IL (c) Copyright 2010.
