摘要
Isabelle is lonesome and bored. When she's not painting with pink cake and strawberry jam, she goes to the Museum where she gazes at her favorite paintingthe one of the little Angel. Isabelle is smitten. And when the object of her affection comes to life one day, she discovers what it is she's been longing for all along. Georg Hallensleben's wonderfully lush illustrations enrich this sweet story about a contemplative pig named Isabelle who finds friends hip and a surefire cure for boredom all in one place.

K-Gr 1-An endearing pink pig who lives alone in a messy apartment loves to visit the art museum. In the corner of her favorite painting is a winsome nude cupid with a bow and arrow. One day, he steps down from the picture to give her a tour of the galleries. Isabelle is so enchanted by her new friend that she becomes a museum guard in order to be with him every day. This slight, though whimsical story, written in simple, straightforward language, is vigorously illustrated with double-page spreads lit by saturated, rich colors and enlivened by hurried, freewheeling brush strokes and black outlines. The figures are flat and spare, even those depicting the artwork in the museum (probably the Louvre), but expressive.-Patricia Pearl Dole, formerly at First Presbyterian School, Martinsville, VA (c) Copyright 2010. In this French import, Isabelle the pig has a crush on the little angel in a painting at the art museum. One day, he steps out of his frame and takes her on a private tour of the exhibits. He can't leave the building, though, so Isabelle decides to work as a museum guard. Although the story is odd, the colorful pictures, which are illustrated in a loose style that shows the brush strokes, are lively and expressive. From HORN BOOK Spring 2001, (c) Copyright 2010. Ages 4^-8. When Isabelle the pig is not eating or painting pictures with a palette of strawberry jam and pink cake, she loves to go to the museum, sit in a red velvet chair, and gaze at her favorite painting. That's because the painting is the home of the little angel, whom Isabelle likes even more than playing with her food. One memorable day, the angel comes to life, plays Isabelle a tune on his trumpet, and treats her to a private tour of the museum. After that, life at home is as lonely as the last crumb of cake on a plate. Can Isabelle find a way to spend more time with her friend? This unassuming story from France is slight but as sweet spirited as the little pig's palette, and artist Hallensleben's pictures, with their rich colors and lush textures, provide a feast for the eye. Bon appetit! --Michael Cart
