The Anholts' familiar, warm, and appealing illustrations feature a small brown girl and a towheaded boy experiencing different kinds of weather. The discussion of weather jumps from weather patterns in a single region to geographic differences to seasonal changes to 'funny things' people say about weather. Preschoolers, nevertheless, will enjoy the simple romp through hot, cold, wet, and dry. From HORN BOOK 1995, (c) Copyright 2010. The Horn Book, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. 《书目》(Booklist)书评
Ages 4-7. In this simple introduction, a little girl and a little boy roam through all kinds of weather, engaging in activities appropriate to the season. The watercolor illustrations reflect a childlike sensibility and are suitably engaging. In addition to presenting seasonal activities (such as a picnic in the summer and skating and sledding in winter), the authors list some standard "funny things" people say about the weather: "Rain, rain go away" ; "If the cows are lying down, it's going to rain." There are enough full-and double-page illustrations to make this usable with small groups, and the text lends itself to interactive discussion with young children. --Janice Del Negro
