Gr 2-4-These revised editions offer solid information. The insights into Reverend King's early life will aid readers in understanding how these years laid the foundation for his role in the civil rights movement. Mary McLeod Bethune, the 15th and first free-born child of former slaves, determinedly devoted her life to educating African Americans. Both titles include five short chapters simply written in respectful styles. The illustrations of the earlier editions have been replaced by average-quality, black-and-white photographs that lend historical perspective and validate the texts.
