PreS-Gr 2Professor Parrot, a colorful puppet, presents some basic Spanish words and phrases to two Spanish-speaking and two English-speaking children so they can communicate and become friends. These language lessons take the form of songs and games teaching introduction skills, numbers, parts of the body, basic vocabulary, and colors. A storyteller presents "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" entirely in Spanish, with occasional pictures so that non-Spanish speakers can follow along. Except for the story, most of the dialogue is in English, with immediate Spanish translation. Designed for young children, the video depends on simplicity and repetition for student learning. The accompanying audiocassette includes all of the songs, the Spanish language "Goldilocks," and the end-of-tape review. Video and audio quality are excellent. Young children will enjoy this introduction to the Spanish language.Teresa Bateman, Brigadoon Elementary School, Federal Way, WA (c) Copyright 2010.
