Critique de School Library Journal
K-Gr 2 This is a rather puzzling book. The setting is a familiar one, at least to adultsa frustrating shopping trip when the calendar says ``summer vacation'' while the store displays all say ``back to school.'' Baxter's colorful, cartoon-like illustrations will amuse, and the text is accessible to secure beginning readers. However, the story has no point. Are kids really aware of or will they be amused by stock changes at the local store? Why are the sales people so obtuse? And what is so different or so special about the last store, where success is finally achieved? This easy reader is an unnecessary purchase.
