Critique de Choice
Metter's guide contains a wealth of information not only for writers but for anyone doing research. Biased toward resources found in libraries, the volume covers both general and specific subject materials in printed and electronic format. Part 1 covers basic library collection organization and online searching strategies. Part 2 surveys access for journals, magazines, and newspapers. Parts 3 through 5 are devoted to specific subject resources--biographical, statistical, geographical, legal, etc. Each entry is annotated, and online services are noted where applicable. Included are two appendixes, the first a guide to periodical indexes, the second to online and database services. This wonderful accumulation of research materials makes the volume a valuable reference tool for librarians. Highly recommended for writers and librarians. J. P.
