Booklist Review
The authors argue that behavior is determined by relationships, and they put forth a four-dimensional model for analyzing and understanding them. Consultants based in Nairn, Scotland, Musgrave and Anniss do not restrict their definition to the emotional aspect of interpersonal interaction. Besides emotion, they consider factors that they group under the headings of control, operation, and structure. They review existing theories examining the motivational bases of relationships, explain the tenets of their own theory, suggest how it can be used to analyze and evaluate relationships, and show ways it might be applied. Recommended for academic and larger sociology and management collections. --David Rouse
