Choice Review
The editors of Fostering the Love of Reading have gathered articles covering relational aspects of the affective domain in the development of lifelong readers. The book includes five major categories for cultivating reader literacy: (1) defining the role of affect in reading, (2) attitudes toward reading, (3) motivating readers, (4) responding to reading, and (5) developing affective reading programs. The goals are for parents and teachers to develop literate lifelong reading habits in students, to develop affective classrooms, and to prevent aliteracy. All preservice teachers can benefit from considering the information provided in this book. Current classroom teachers will benefit by reflecting on the content, teaching models, and theories discussed. The editors have provided a valuable compilation of current issues important in forming life-long readers. Undergraduate; graduate. M. Wikstrom; Buena Vista College
