Doody's Book Review
The book describes in fundamental detail the laboratory procedures most often performed in a veterinary practice to provide useful information for the diagnosis of disease. The purpose is to provide the veterinary technician with a reference to fundamentals, performance, and interpretation of veterinary clinical laboratory procedures. This book also provides basic information on veterinary hematology, immunology, enzymology, and clinical pathology. Although the book is specifically intended for use by veterinary technicians, it could be beneficial for veterinarians and veterinary students. The book is logically organized and covers a majority of clinical diagnostic procedures routinely performed in a veterinary practice. The illustrations are adequate, but some could be represented better to convey the point made in the text. References for major points made in the text are needed for further education. The book is well written and representative of the desired objectives. The chapter summaries and review questions are an excellent tool to reinforce points in the chapters. The book is a quick reference for the veterinary technician and is devoid of verbiage that would make reading difficult. The glossary, index, and table of contents support the use of this book as a quick reference. Charles E. Wiedmeyer, DVM(University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine).
